Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Hometown Tourist Area

Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Hometown Tourist Area is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism destination.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Hometown Tourist Area is located in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Town, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, covering a total area of 3.15 square kilometers. It includes five core scenic areas: the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Former Residence Memorial Museum, Cuiheng Ancient Village, Zhongshan City, the 1911 Revolution Memorial Park, and Li Tou Jian Mountain. These areas fully showcase Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birth and growth environment, revolutionary activities, and related historical sites. To enhance the overall quality of the tourist area and establish it as a national 5A-level scenic spot, a total investment of 350 million yuan has been made in the renovation of Lanxi River and the construction of tourism public facilities. Currently, the main infrastructure projects, including the landscaping along both sides of Cuiheng Avenue and parking lots, have been completed.

According to officials from the Zhongshan City Tourism Bureau, the preliminary inspection for the area’s 5A-level upgrade has been passed, and the national inspection is expected to take place between late October and early November. In addition to facility upgrades, the area will also develop a smart tourism system serving the scenic area, tourists, and merchants. This includes a scenic management platform, marketing platform, and official website. The multi-platform development aims to improve the comprehensive management and operational standards of tourism services, creating a high-quality tourism ecosystem.

In October 2016, it was approved as a national 5A-level tourist attraction.

The area is divided into three sections: the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Exhibition Area, the Cuiheng Residential Exhibition Area, and the Cuiheng Agricultural Exhibition Area. The Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Exhibition Area includes the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Former Residence Memorial Museum and other historical relics of Dr. Sun in Cuiheng Village. The Cuiheng Residential Exhibition Area showcases residences and living conditions of various social classes in Cuiheng Village during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period, reproducing the historical backdrop of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birth and upbringing. The Cuiheng Agricultural Exhibition Area displays the agricultural ecology of the Pearl River Delta, including rice cultivation, fruit and vegetable farming, mulberry-based fish ponds, poultry breeding, and modern soil-less cultivation techniques.

Cuiheng Village: Cuiheng Village is under the jurisdiction of Nanlang Town, Zhongshan City, located in the southeastern part of the city and also in the southeastern part of Nanlang Town. It borders the Lingdingyang waters of the Pearl River Estuary to the east, facing Qi’ao Island of Zhuhai City across the sea, connects to Jinding Town of Zhuhai City to the south, leans against Wuguishan Mountain to the west, and neighbors Yakou Village to the northeast. The Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway passes through the east side of the village. The Zhonggong Highway runs through the village. Cuishan Road connects the Zhonggong Highway to the east and Chenggui Highway to the west, passing by the side of Yixian Reservoir. It serves as a key hub for water and land transportation in the southeastern part of Zhongshan City.
