Xinhai Revolution Memorial Park
Xinhai Revolution Memorial Park is a classic red tourism attraction.
This theme park, covering an area of about 20 acres with a total investment of 35 million yuan, integrates distinctive elements such as Sun Yat-sen and the Xinhai Revolution, the centennial commemoration of the Xinhai Revolution, and leisure tourism. Its architectural style reflects a blend of Chinese and Western influences. Reporters visiting the park yesterday afternoon saw, in addition to carefully arranged plants and trees, gray-tiled corridors with blue bricks, round-arched Western-style pavilions, as well as related reliefs and stone statues. The pathways in the park are entirely paved with small stones, and an artificially dug stream winds around the central grassy area of the park... A responsible person from the city’s tourism group in charge of the park’s construction said: the entire park’s design references the features of “royal” and “imperial” gardens in the UK and Japan, emphasizing a concept that combines commemoration with leisure.
The biggest highlight and main attraction of Xinhai Revolution Memorial Park is the massive stones and large trees. Here, visitors can see 23 huge granite rocks, each 3 meters high and 2 meters thick, arranged throughout the park—5 at the entrance and 18 inside. These are intended to underscore the historical weight and solemnity of the Xinhai Revolution. According to reports, the stones come from Shandong, with the heaviest weighing over 100 tons. The 18 large stones inside the park are arranged in a wall formation called the "Xinhai Historical Memory Wall." It is inscribed with 26 entries including diaries, memoirs, and poems about the history of the Xinhai Revolution by figures such as Sun Yat-sen, Huang Xing, Cai Yuanpei, Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Dong Biwu, and Soong Ching-ling. By reading the inscriptions on the stone wall one by one, visitors can revisit the history of the Xinhai Revolution, making it a focal point of attention. Behind these stone walls are planted tall cotton trees (also known as hero trees) and phoenix trees, which bloom into a sea of red—a profound symbolism that praises the fiery dedication of revolutionary martyrs and commemorates the glorious achievements forged by their blood.
