Zhongshan Cuiheng National Wetland Park is located within the Cuiheng New District, at the brackish-saline convergence of the Hengmen Waterway in the Pearl River Estuary. It spans a total area of 625.6 hectares, with a wetland ratio of 63.09%, making it a typical example of the estuarine wetland ecosystem in the Pearl River Basin. The construction of this wetland park is of great significance for ensuring regional ecological security and protecting the estuarine wetland ecosystem and mangrove communities of the Pearl River.

Zhongshan Cuiheng National Wetland Park is situated in the Hengmen West Waterway of Nanlang Town, Cuiheng New District, with a planned area of 625.6 hectares. This includes 243.9 hectares of land area and 395.44 hectares of wetland area, resulting in a wetland rate of 63.21%. The area features large tracts of mangroves, tidal flats, mulberry-based fish ponds, as well as several small rivers running through it. Countless birds such as egrets thrive here, creating a rich and diverse biological environment, often referred to as Zhongshan’s last and most beautiful virgin land.

The planned area of Zhongshan Cuiheng National Wetland Park includes various types of wetlands such as estuarine waters, mangroves, permanent rivers, and herbaceous marshes. It boasts a uniquely Lingnan-style ecosystem, with 50 hectares of distinctive mangrove landscapes that add valuable research value to the park. According to sources, the park will focus on the protection of mangrove wetland resources, aiming to protect and restore the nearshore and coastal wetland ecosystem of the Hengmen West Waterway. Its core goals include improving and restoring mangrove wetland resources and aquatic animal habitats, while also highlighting the rich cultural elements of Zhongshan, the abundant wetland culture, and unique folk traditions. The overall objective is to restore the ecosystem of the Pearl River Basin. The park features a unique estuarine wetland landscape composed of marshes, rivers, and aquatic forests. It serves as a national-level wetland park integrating wetland conservation and restoration, wetland culture exhibition, science education, scientific research and monitoring, as well as wetland leisure and sightseeing. Cuiheng Village: Cuiheng Village is under the jurisdiction of Nanlang Town, Zhongshan City, located in the southeastern part of the city and also in the southeast of Nanlang Town. It faces the Lingdingyang Sea at the Pearl River Estuary to the east, across from Qi'ao Island in Zhuhai City, borders Jinding Town of Zhuhai to the south, leans against Wuguishan Mountain to the west, and neighbors Yakou Village to the northeast. The Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway runs east of the village. The Zhonggong Highway runs through the village. Cui Shan Road connects the Zhonggong Highway to the east and Chenggui Highway to the west, passing by the edge of the Yixian Reservoir. It is a vital hub for both land and water transportation in the southeastern part of Zhongshan City.
