Shi Zi Temple

Shi Zi Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Shi Zi Temple, also known as Kuanglu Ancient Temple, is located on the mountainside of Difeng Mountain in Dache Village, Nanlang Town. Built against the hillside, it was constructed in the 9th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1889).

The temple faces southwest and is built along a northeast orientation. Originally constructed with bluestone, it was later rebuilt with brick and tile. The temple is not large, measuring 2.2 meters in depth and 0.9 meters in width. In the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936), a flat-roofed pavilion and guardrails were added in front of the temple.

The first pair of stone couplets in front of the temple reads: "A blessed land of immortals, the abode of the venerable; a gathering place of literati, the heart of ancient Buddhas." The couplet on the back reads: "The cave lies in clouds and rosy clouds, a serene barrier; the pavilion gathers misty haze, an incense of heartfelt devotion."

The second pair of stone couplets reads: "The mountain becomes a painting at dawn; the scenery inspires verses at midnight."

The horizontal plaque above the temple entrance is inscribed in clerical script: "Kuanglu Ancient Temple."

The temple gate couplet reads: "Where rice and stones meet, the hills of Ni; with the heart of Yao’s and Shun’s days."

Dache Village: Located in the northwest of Nanlang Town. It stretches from Houlang Pit in the east, adjacent to Xijiangli Village, to Huangzhulang in the west, near Guantang Village, borders Beiwei Village to the south, and faces Duikeng Mountain to the north, which neighbors the Torch Development Zone.

In the first year of the Jianyan reign during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127), Lin Xiaosan migrated from Dache Village in Zhujixiang, Nanxiong, to establish this settlement, naming it Dache in memory of his former home. The settlement is distributed in a rectangular block shape on the north side of the Zhonggong Highway.
