Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

At the foot of Litou Mountain in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Town, Zhongshan City, there is a school covering an area of over 200,000 square meters, named “Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School.” The school was originally called “Memorial Middle School of the Premier’s Hometown.” The current name of the school was inscribed by Soong Ching Ling, the late Vice Chairwoman of the nation and referred to as the “Mother of the Nation” by the late Chairman Mao Zedong. The campus is backed by Litoujian Mountain, faces the Lanxi Stream, and is surrounded by green hills and shaded trees, offering a serene environment.

Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School was initiated in 1931 by Sun Ke, son of Sun Yat-sen, who was commissioned by the Kuomintang government and returned from Nanjing to his hometown to begin its construction. The school features palace-style architecture, with hip-and-gable roofs, red walls, and blue glazed tiles. It consists of four classroom buildings—Heling Hall, Haodong Hall, Shouping Hall, and Qingling Hall—as well as facilities such as the Mu Zhennong Administration Office, the auditorium (with a library on the first floor called Yixian Hall), and male and female dormitory living areas. The original school buildings were completed in July 1934, and the main building, Yixian Hall, was finished in 1936 (housing a library and a small theater). After completion, Sun Ke once served as the school’s principal. Currently, the school is a key high school in Guangdong Province and a first-class school in the province.

In November 2004, it was designated as an immovable cultural relics unit by the Municipal People’s Government.

In November 2008, it was designated as a Guangdong Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province.

In May 2013, it was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Cuiheng Village: Cuiheng Village is an administrative village under Nanlang Town, Zhongshan City, located in the southeastern part of Zhongshan and also in the southeast of Nanlang Town. It borders the Lingdingyang area of the Pearl River Estuary to the east, facing Qi’ao Island of Zhuhai City across the sea, connects to Jinding Town of Zhuhai City to the south, leans against Wuguishan Mountain to the west, and neighbors Yakou Village to the northeast. The Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway runs east of the village. The Zhonggong Highway runs through the village. Cui Shan Road connects the Zhonggong Highway to the east and Chenggui Highway to the west, passing by the edge of the Yixian Reservoir. It is a vital land and water transportation hub in the southeastern part of Zhongshan City.
