Shaxi Park

The construction of the park was one of the top ten people-benefiting projects in Shaxi Town in 2007. Covering an area of nearly 100 acres, it was planned to include features such as a landscaped plaza, fitness area, children’s playground, and amusement grounds. The first phase took a year to build, with an investment of nearly 6 million yuan, and was completed on New Year’s Day 2008.

Designed in the traditional Lingnan style, the park’s grand and spectacular antique-style royal archway serves as its main gate. Adapting to the local terrain, a 30,000-square-meter landscaped plaza was laid out. Within the park, two century-old bodhi trees are its treasured landmarks, while five stunning silk cotton trees are among the tallest in Zhongshan. The park also houses hundreds of varieties of rare flowers and trees, creating a vibrant and colorful display. Additionally, cultural attractions such as cascading waterfalls with fish ponds, pavilions nestled in greenery, sculptures, and stone inscriptions blend tradition with modernity, infusing nature with humanistic charm.

Since opening on New Year’s Day, the park has been deeply loved by residents, attracting people of all ages. Whether in small groups of friends or with family, visitors come to admire the auspicious waterfalls and watch fish swimming beneath the surface; some sit on the grass under the trees, basking in the sunlight; others stroll along winding mountain paths, climbing step by step; they exercise in the morning or enjoy leisure time, listening to birdsong, smelling the fragrance of flowers, enjoying cicada chirps, and watching butterflies dance—immersing themselves in the sounds of nature and enchanted by the boundless charm of the natural world.

As the ancients said: “The great hermit lives hidden in the city; the lesser hermit lives concealed in the forest.” Though located in a bustling area, the park offers a unique tranquility and leisure that aligns with the wisdom of ancient and modern sages, subtly embodying the ideals of peaceful living and harmonious development. It responds to the will of the people, unites their hearts, and inspires their wisdom—truly a path to prosperity, well-being, and lasting flourishing. Marvelous indeed, so delightful that one forgets to leave. This stone tablet is erected in memory.

Shaxi Town: Shaxi Town is located to the west of downtown Zhongshan, covering an area of 53.34 square kilometers. It governs 15 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee, with a registered population of 61,300 and a non-registered population of 57,000.
