Shijiao River Shengshi Bridge

The Shijiao River has flowed gently for thousands of years, and this ancient village lies along its banks, backed by Lion Mountain. One morning at the end of the fifth lunar month, after the sun rose and the azure sky was dotted with white clouds, we turned off Qijiang Highway onto Xianglong Branch Road and drove straight into Shengshi Village. A newly built Shengshi Bridge from a few years ago spans the Shijiao River, and near the bridgehead looms a majestic stone-carved lion in full stride.

At dawn on the Shijiao River, the embankment is lined with interwoven fir and willow trees, with lush green grass flourishing. Standing on the Shengshi Bridge, one can see the tender willows leaning gracefully over the water, swaying with the breeze. Willows have always been known for their elegant posture and delicate hues, lending the riverbank its gently curving lines. The Shijiao River flows southward, seemingly carefree, yet where the distant mountains meet the water, the author could almost sense the unrestrained, enduring, and reflective qualities of a sweeping novel.

Shengshi Village: Introduction to Shengshi Village

Shengshi Village is located 2.68 kilometers northwest of the Shaxi Town government, with a current population of over 4,390. Originally part of the northern section of the ancient Xiangjiao Township, the name "Shengshi" originates from the ancient bay of Shengshi Bay to the east of Lion Mountain within the village, where "Sheng" conveys meanings of sacredness and purity. In 1945, when larger townships were formed, the ancient Xiangjiao, Daxingfang, and Lanxia villages were merged into one large township, and "Shengshi" was used for the first time as the name of the township.
