Tiger Subduing Rock

One of the scenic spots in Zhongshan, located on a small hill northeast of Dashidou Village in Shaxi. Legend has it that there was a cave in the mountain where an old monk named Yuanmo chanted scriptures during the Ming Dynasty. Over time, his chanting moved the tigers in the mountain. Every morning when they heard the chanting, the tigers would lie outside the cave as if in deep contemplation. Eventually, the tigers became tame and left peacefully—hence the name Tiger Subduing Rock. The site was originally known for its Eight Scenic Spots: Bathing Kite Pool, Cactus Rock, Tiger-Taming Cave, Lion Gate, Toad Stone, Three-Cup Cup, Scripture-Drying Terrace, and Horse-Stabling Field.
