Group Qi Gang Martyrs' Monument

The Group Qi Gang Martyrs' Monument is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhongshan City.

The martyrs' monument is situated on Group Qi Gang and was built in 1949. Originally a cemetery for martyrs from the Liberation War period, it was expanded into a memorial tomb in 1963, covering an area of 121 square meters. In 1969, it was reconstructed into a circular structure with a diameter of 27.5 meters, functioning as a bone pagoda niche for martyrs, housing the remains of those who died during the Anti-Japanese War, the domestic revolutionary war period, and after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In front of the tomb stands a 10-meter-high stele inscribed with seven large characters reading "Revolutionary Martyrs Monument," while the base of the stele bears inscriptions commemorating the deeds of 48 martyrs. In the 1980s, the government invested several hundred thousand yuan to further expand the martyrs' park, constructing small pavilions to the southwest and rear of the monument, laying concrete steps along the approach path, and erecting a solemn concrete archway at the center of the road. Today, the martyrs’ park has been transformed into a public garden, serving as a site for the people of Huangpu to pay tribute to the martyrs and find rest.
