Shawong Wenbi Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhongshan City.

Shawong Wenbi Pagoda is located on Wenbi Mountain in Shawong Community, South District, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. Originally built during the Qing Dynasty, it was renovated in the 28th year of the Guangxu reign (1902) and again in 1988. The pagoda was constructed by the villagers of Shawong to commemorate Ma Nanbao’s meritorious service in resisting the Yuan and supporting the Song dynasties, as well as to enhance the prestige of their hometown and promote success in the imperial examinations. The pagoda stands approximately 18 meters tall with a base circumference of 13 meters and covers an area of about 23 square meters. It features a granite base, a body built from blue bricks and coated with mortar, and is shaped like a writing brush tip—simple, rustic, and uniquely designed. The pagoda is inlaid with a stone carving reading “Colorful Brush Blooms Flowers” and a stele commemorating its 1902 renovation. It originally had a pagoda cave, which was filled during renovation, and parts of the structure are now damaged. As one of the few remaining ancient pagodas in the area, it holds significant commemorative value and is highly regarded. It was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Zhongshan City in 2009.
