Zhuhai Ocean Park

Zhuhai Ocean Park spans 800,000 square meters. It houses a variety of Class I nationally protected animals such as red coral, hawksbill turtles, and nautilus, as well as displays of a thousand-year-old sea turtle and a Chinese white dolphin specimen. Adjacent to the park is the largest mangrove wetland ecological reserve in the province, where visitors can find a rich diversity of uniquely shaped mangrove plants and numerous rare bird species such as egrets. Moreover, guests can freely enjoy a variety of activities within the park, including water play and fish catching, leisure cycling, beach volleyball, aqua biking, and rafting—providing ample opportunities for relaxation, soaking up the sunshine and sea breeze. The light brown reed flowers sway in the sunset glow, adding a sense of desolation. Visitors can take a wooden boat to cruise through the reed marshes, navigating through a maze of winding waterways—a leisurely experience unlike any other.

Zhuhai Ocean Park combines entertainment, sightseeing, and education, with its most distinctive feature being the endless "reed marshes." Reeds may seem like just an ordinary wild plant, but they are remarkably resilient. Their creeping roots spread through the soil, helping to protect riverbanks and withstand wind and rain. Though lacking the graceful charm of willows, reeds are tough and strong—displaying not a delicate green, but the vibrant hue of robust life. In these remote areas, they form a natural barrier, sheltering those who pursue freedom and abundance with their bold and vigorous presence. "Reed marshes" are something many have only heard of. Back in the 1970s, the wildly popular opera *Shajiabang* was set in the reed marshes of Baiyangdian. Now, Zhuhai has its own reed marshes—an eye-opening sight: boating on the water—yes, it’s the sea—and not far off, egrets are flying; closer in, crisscrossing waterways and dense reed forests create a variety of expansive, narrow, deep, and winding aquatic and land-based reed spaces.
