Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cultural Heritage Trail — Ancient South China Post Roads

The Xiangshan Ancient Post Road consists of four historic routes: the Changnanjing Ancient Path, the Qia Ancient Road, the Fenghuangshan Ancient Path, and the Jinshenmen Waterway. Due to its diverse types, it has been designated as a model section of the Ancient South China Post Roads. These ancient paths were not only vital routes connecting Guangzhou and other areas to Zhuhai and Macao, but also important evidence of Guangdong people’s pioneering spirit in modern times.

The Changnanjing Ancient Path starts from Guantang Village in Tangjiawan Town, traverses Fenghuang Mountain, and leads to Dongkeng Village in Qianshan Subdistrict. It was an important thoroughfare between Guantang and Xiangzhou in ancient times, with a total length of about 5 kilometers, of which approximately 3.5 kilometers remain today. As one of the most essential segments of the Xiangshan Ancient Post Road’s Heritage Route of Historic Figures’ Hometowns, the ancient path links together captivating sights such as the Changnan Three-Arch Bridge, Laiyi Pavilion, the reservoir culvert ruins, cliff inscriptions, and the “Qintai Waterfall Viewing” spot.
