Jing Bao Office

The Jing Bao Office is located at No. 30 and 32 Weiran Hutong, a cultural heritage site protected by Beijing Municipality.

Shao Piaoping was a renowned journalist in modern China who founded the Jing Bao newspaper to promote progressive ideas and oppose the feudal warlord system. He was killed by warlords on April 21, 1926. This site is the former location of the Jing Bao newspaper and Shao’s residence. It was built in 1920 and consists of a two-story modern wooden building facing west and a traditional courtyard house facing south. The street-facing facade is decorated with Western-style brick pilasters, and the entrance is adorned with a classical columned porch.
