In April 1928, Zhu De led the troops from the Nanchang Uprising to Miandu. In late April, after Mao Zedong’s forces defeated two Hunan enemy regiments that were pursuing Zhu De’s troops at Jielong Bridge in the county town, they proceeded via Banxi and Shizhou to Shidu. Upon hearing the news, Zhu De hurried to Shidu and met Mao Zedong for the first time at Shidu Wanshou Palace. They discussed matters such as the rendezvous of their forces, military organization, and the establishment of a revolutionary base. Later, a rendezvous conference was held in Longshi, Ninggang, where the Fourth Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army was formed, with Zhu De as the army commander and Mao Zedong as the party representative.

Wanshou Palace was a commercial building and trading venue jointly funded by Jiangxi merchants during the Qing Dynasty, covering an area of 535.5 square meters. It consists of three sections: the stage, the central hall, and the rear hall. The entire structure features carved beams and painted rafters, with a grand and uniquely elegant design. It was damaged by fire in the 1960s. In 2013, Yanling initiated the reconstruction project of Wanshou Palace, which is now open to the public. It is a revolutionary site from the period of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base.
