The Shuikoushan Lead-Zinc Mine is a historically verified thousand-year-old mining and smelting site, whose “state-run history” is unique in the history of lead-zinc mining and smelting in China. Its smelting technology represented the leading level of China’s lead-zinc mining industry in various periods. The Shuikoushan Lead-Zinc Mine was also an early workers’ movement base personally initiated by Mao Zedong during the Great Revolution. In 1922, Jiang Xianyun and Xie Huaide established the Shuikoushan Workers’ Club at the Kangjia Stage and held the sensational Shuikoushan Workers’ Movement Strike, which triggered the first climax of the Chinese workers’ movement. It gave rise to a group of veteran proletarian revolutionaries such as Song Qiaosheng. Later, eight hundred miners went up to Jinggangshan and became the backbone of the Red Army in the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base.
