Lanjiang Township: Located in the southern part of the city, just 3 kilometers from downtown. Legend has it that the banks of the Yishui tributary flowing through the area were lined with evergreen trees that reflected blue in the water, hence the name "Lanjiang" (Orchid River), from which the township derives its name. Before liberation, it belonged to Pingquan Township. After liberation, it was established as Lanjiang Township under the 11th District. In 1958, it was part of the Satellite People's Commune, and in 1961, the Lanjiang Commune was established. In 1984, it was renamed Lanjiang Township under Yiyang District. In 1995, during the district and township consolidation, the former Lanjiang, Hutang, Jinyuan, Zhengdong, (and the four villages of Lianhua, Huxi, Tangshan, and Huangzhi, which were placed under the jurisdiction of Yiyang Town) were merged to form the new Lanjiang Township.
