Victory Arch

The Victory Arch is a cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province.

The Victory Arch is a single-arch structure modeled after an arch of triumph, built with granite. In 1946, to commemorate the victory of the eight-year War of Resistance, the Nationalist Government, under the direction of Wang Dongyuan, then Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Government, constructed the arch, hence its name “Victory Arch.”

The couplet on the arch was inscribed by the renowned calligrapher Fei Xinwo.

The provincial-level cultural relic protection plaque for the “Victory Arch” stands in front of the arch. It was announced by the People’s Government of Hunan Province in January 2011.
