Loudi Xuanzhen Temple

Xuanzhen Temple on Fairy Mountain is located in Wanbao New District, south of Loudi City, at the confluence of the Shuifu Temple Lake area and the Sunshui River, embraced by mountains and waters. Legend has it that three ancient maidens once gathered herbs, practiced medicine, and cultivated themselves here. After achieving enlightenment, they ascended to heaven in broad daylight, hence the name Fairy Mountain. During the reign of Emperor Zhuangzong of the Tang Dynasty, a Fairy Hall was built here, but all the temple structures were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. In 2003, the Loudi Taoist Association raised funds to rebuild the temple, with main structures including the Hall of the Southern Sacred Peak Emperor and the Hall of the Goddess of Mercy. It now serves as the headquarters of the Loudi Taoist Association.
