The Ancient Chinese Architecture Museum is situated within the Beijing Temple of Agriculture. It is a thematic museum primarily focused on the collection, preservation, research, and exhibition of the history, culture, and technology of ancient Chinese architecture. It officially opened to the public in September 1991. The museum’s main exhibitions include “Glimpses of the Ancient Altar – A Historical Photo Exhibition of the Temple of Agriculture” and “A Brief History of the Development of Ancient Chinese Architectural Technology.” Ancient Chinese architecture holds an important place in the history of world architecture. Through photographs, artifacts, and models, the exhibitions vividly introduce the formation and development of ancient Chinese architectural technology and its unique aesthetic value, reflecting the wisdom and exceptional craftsmanship of the Chinese working people.
The “Ancient Chinese Architecture” exhibition uses a wealth of charts, photographs, artifacts, and exquisitely detailed models to illustrate the evolution of ancient Chinese architecture from its primitive beginnings of thatched roofs and earthen steps to the grand palace structures of the Ming and Qing dynasties, characterized by high walls and orderly layouts.
