Shuangpai Reservoir

The Shuangpai Reservoir scenic area is located on the Xiao River, a major tributary of the Xiang River at Zhouchongkou in Shuangpai, about 35 km from Yongzhou City. Construction began in 1958 and was completed in 1962. The project consists of a dam, spillway, water intake system, power station building, and navigation structures. The dam is a concrete double-pier buttress-type gravity dam with a crest elevation of 176.5 m, a maximum height of 58.8 m, a crest length of 311 m, and a width of 6 m. The reservoir has a total capacity of 690 million cubic meters. Primarily built for power generation, the reservoir also serves multiple functions such as flood control, irrigation, navigation, and aquaculture.
