Jiefang Park

Jiefang Park is located in the northern section of Jiefang Avenue in Hankou. It was formerly a racecourse operated by foreign merchants from Britain, France, Russia, Germany, Japan, and Belgium, commonly known as the Western Merchants' Racecourse. The park was first constructed in 1953 and officially opened to the public on May 16, 1955 (the sixth anniversary of the liberation of Wuhan), hence the name "Jiefang Park."

The park boasts dense woods, lush green lawns, picturesque landscapes, and the sounds of birds and fragrant flowers. It includes scenic spots such as Plum Blossom Hill, Osmanthus Ridge, Cherry Blossom Slope, the Bonsai Garden, and the Chinese Famous Pagodas Garden. There are also recreational facilities for visitors, including a cinema, tennis courts, swimming pool, bowling alley, as well as modern amusement rides like boating, Ferris wheel, spaceship, magic carpet, three-star spinning chair, super swing, and space voyage. Supporting amenities include food outlets, teahouses, and commercial service points. It is the largest natural ecological park in the urban area.
