Hankou HSBC Building

The Hankou HSBC Building is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Hankou HSBC Building

Located at No. 99 Yanjiang Avenue, Hankou, Wuhan. The British-owned HSBC Hankou branch opened in 1866, offering services such as savings deposits, credit, currency exchange, arbitrage on Shanghai exchange, trading of foreign exchange contracts, currency trading, and banknote issuance. It ceased operations in March 1950. The original site was built in 1913 as a four-story granite structure with a rectangular floor plan. The column capitals feature Ionic volute carvings, and the cornice and walls are adorned with decorative reliefs. The entire building is rustic and imposing, tall and majestic, showcasing ancient Greek architectural style. (Third Batch)
