Former Site of Tang Shengzhi’s Mansion

Located on Shengli Street in Jiang’an District, Wuhan. Tang Shengzhi (1889–1970), courtesy name Mengxiao, was a native of Dong’an, Hunan. He once served as Commander of the Eighth Army of the National Revolutionary Army, Frontline Commander-in-Chief of the Northern Expeditionary Army, Commander-in-Chief of the Fourth Army Group, Chairman of the Hubei Provincial Government, President of the Military Advisory Council under the Nanjing Nationalist Government, member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and standing committee member of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, among other positions. The site was built in 1913, featuring a three-story brick-concrete structure. It served as Tang Shengzhi’s residence during the Northern Expedition period and holds significant historical value. (1890–1970)

Commander-in-Chief of the Fourth Army Group of the National Revolutionary Army, Vice Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

A native of Dong’an County, Hunan Province, Tang Shengzhi was born on October 30, 1890, into a family of late Qing officials. At the age of 18, he graduated from the first session of the Hunan Army Primary School and went on to study at the Wuchang Army Middle School. In 1911, he joined the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance and attended the preparatory corps at Baoding Military Academy. He participated in the Xinhai Revolution.
