Hankou Commercial Bank Building

The Hankou Commercial Bank Building is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Hankou Commercial Bank Building

Located on Nanjing Road in Jiang’an District, Wuhan, it was built in 1931 as a partially six-story reinforced concrete structure. The building has a square floor plan and an overall enclosed form, covering a site area of 1,100 square meters and a floor area of 4,730 square meters. It generally belongs to the Western classical style, with some Chinese architectural features. After the Japanese occupation of Wuhan, the building was taken over by the puppet Hankou Special Municipal Government. On November 26, 1938, the Wuhan Puppet Public Order Maintenance Association was established here, and on April 20, 1939, the Hankou Special Municipal Government was founded here. The building is one of the representative public buildings of modern Wuhan. (Fifth Batch)
