The Former Site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nationalist Government in Hankou is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Former Site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nationalist Government in Hankou

Located at No. 5 Yiyuan Road, Jiang’an District, Wuhan City, and built in 1905. Starting from January 1, 1927, the Nationalist Government officially began operations in Hankou. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Wuhan Nationalist Government was housed in this building, with Eugene Chen serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. This site played a significant role in the great historical achievement of the Chinese people reclaiming the British concessions in Hankou and Jiujiang through their own efforts for the first time. The former site covers an area of approximately 464 square meters and features a classical architectural style. It is a three-story brick-concrete structure with a symmetrical facade, centered around a two-column wide portico, flanked by small flower beds on either side. This site holds important value for the study of the history of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Wuhan Nationalist Government, and also provides certain reference significance for the research of modern and contemporary architecture.
