The former residence of Shi Ying is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Former Residence of Shi Ying

Located in Tanhualin Community, Wuchang District, Wuhan. Shi Ying (1878–1943), courtesy name Hengqing, was from Yangxin, Hubei. A member of the Tongmenghui, he served as a member of the House of Representatives, professor at Peking University, Central Committee member of the First National Congress of the Kuomintang, and Mayor of Nanjing, among other roles. He is known as the “First Clean Official of the Republic of China.” The residence was built in the late 1930s, featuring European-style villa architecture from the 19th century. It faces south, has two stories, and is constructed of brick and wood. Covering a land area of 908 square meters and a building area of 326 square meters, it serves as an important physical artifact for studying the culture of the Xinhai Uprising. (Fifth Batch)
