The Fangyingtai Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Fangyingtai Site

Located on Shuiguohu Street in Wuchang District, Wuhan City, this is a site from the Neolithic Age and the Zhou Dynasty. It is an oval-shaped terrace covering an area of approximately 10,000 square meters. Legend has it that the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai once released eagles here to catch fish, hence the name "Fangyingtai" (Eagle-Releasing Platform). Discovered in 1956, two archaeological excavations were conducted in 1965 and 1997, unearthing a large number of stone tools, pottery, and rice husks from the Qujialing Culture period. This site is the most important prehistoric site in downtown Wuhan and holds significant value for the study of the city’s history and culture.
