Tomb of Lady Fan

The Tomb of Lady Fan is a cultural tourism attraction.

Also known as the Nine-Li Tomb. Located about 3 kilometers northeast of Jiangling District in Jingzhou City. Lady Fan was the wife of King Zhuang of Chu during the Spring and Autumn period. She often urged the king to appoint virtuous and capable officials and to govern diligently. Historical records state that King Zhuang was fond of hunting and neglected state affairs. Lady Fan strongly remonstrated with him, but when he refused to listen, she stopped eating meat to demonstrate her resolve. Moved by her actions, the king ceased his hunting expeditions, which is why this tomb is also called the "Remonstrance Hunting Tomb." When the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Yue visited this site, he wrote the lines: "The reason Chu became a hegemonic power was largely due to Lady Fan. Had she not cherished Shen Yinlu, who would have recommended the worthiness of Shu Ao?" These poetic lines express admiration and reflection. The tomb mound rises 14 meters high with a diameter of 100 meters, standing prominently on flat ground like a small hill.
