The BaiLong Cave Hominid Fossils site is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

BaiLong Cave Hominid Fossils Site

Located on the eastern slope of Shenwu Ridge in Dongfeng Village, Anjia Township, Yun County, it is a Paleolithic cave site. The cave entrance faces east, measuring 2.4 meters in height and 2.6 meters in width. The interior is filled with deposits, and the depth is unknown. The cave floor is about 40 meters higher than that of Henan. Four excavations were carried out in 1975, 1977, and 1982, revealing deposits divided into three layers: the upper layer consists of brownish clay, about 0.2 meters thick; the middle layer is light brown clay containing coarse sand, approximately 1.5 meters thick; and the lower layer is yellow sandy clay, around 1 meter thick. The middle layer contains the richest fossil content. Excavations unearthed eight hominid teeth fossils, fossils of 19 associated animal species, and stone artifacts such as scrapers, points, choppers, flakes, and cores. (Second Batch)
