Bamboo Sea Scenic Area

The Bamboo Sea Scenic Area is located within Tingsi Ancient Town in Xianning, at the junction of three counties (cities): Xianning, Chongyang, and Chibi. Situated at an altitude of 731 meters, it serves both as a United Nations forestry research base and the largest bamboo forest scenic area in Hubei Province, covering a total area of over 100,000 mu, hence known as the "Ten-Thousand-Mu Bamboo Sea." The area features lush forests, elegant bamboos, verdant pines, and peculiar rocks, offering an elegant environment and pleasant climate, making it an ideal destination for tourism, leisure, and summer retreats. Former national leaders such as Li Xiannian, Wang Renzhong, –––, –––, and Zhang Siqing have all visited the site for inspection. Major attractions include the Strange Stone Forest, Egret Garden, Volcanic Crater, Lovers' Island, and Bamboo Forest Stroll. In 1997, it was designated as a provincial-level scenic area. In October 2003, Xingxing Bamboo Sea successfully hosted all domestic and international guests attending the 4th China Bamboo Culture Festival, and was appointed by the United Nations environmental organization as a base for bird nesting, as well as recognized by our province as a self-drive tourism base, a field combat base, a bamboo house base, and a bamboo entertainment base.

Today, the Bamboo Sea offers multiple standard tourist routes, as well as specialized outdoor experience routes tailored to different groups. Activities such as sinkhole rappelling, cliff climbing, orienteering treks, outdoor camping, and team-building exercises are particularly popular among young travelers. The beautiful Bamboo Sea Mountain Villa Hotel is nestled among the bamboo groves on Wangjiachong Mountain, featuring 100 beds in high and mid-range accommodations, 2 luxury suites, and the capacity to host medium and small meetings for around 100 people.
