China Water Margin City in Chibi is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

"China Water Margin City" within Lushui Lake Scenic Area is one of the outdoor filming locations for the CCTV TV series "Water Margin." It consists of three major scenic zones: the Gathering Hall, the Back Fortress of Liangshan, and the Countryside Street. Today, it has become a multifunctional tourist area that promotes traditional Chinese culture, showcases mountain, forest, and lake-island charm, and boasts beautiful scenery.

At China Water Margin City in Chibi, the "Gathering Hall" was where the heroes of Liangshan trained, appointed commanders, and gathered. Many important decisions related to the development of "Liangshan Marsh" were conceived here. Inside the hall, there are statues of the main Liangshan leaders. On both sides of the main hall are plaques featuring the seated figures of the Liangshan heroes in order.

At China Water Margin City in Chibi, the "Back Fortress of Liangshan" was where the leaders and their families lived. The CCTV crew of "Water Margin" filmed several key scenes here, including the celebratory banquet after the heroes captured the Zhu Family Manor, the fight between Wang Ying and Hu Sanniang, the marriage arrangement of Shortfoot Tiger Wang Ying, and the strategy meeting among Chao Gai, Song Jiang, and Wu Yong to attack Zengtou City.

At China Water Margin City in Chibi, the "Countryside Street," located on the southern shore of Lushui Lake at the northern foot of the Xuefeng Mountains, is part of the ancient-style architecture of "Jiangzhou City." It consists of 25 uniquely designed buildings of varying sizes. Within a limited space, it condenses and recreates the streets and shops of the Northern Song Dynasty. Attractions such as "Madam Wang’s Teahouse," "Lion Tower," "Pan Jinlian’s Residence," "Wu Dalang’s Pancake Shop," "Ximen Qing’s Herbal Medicine Store," and "Zhen Guanxi’s Butcher Shop" are fascinating.

China Water Margin City has now become a multifunctional tourist area that promotes traditional Chinese culture, showcases mountain, forest, lake, and island charm, and boasts beautiful scenery. The "Countryside Street" consists of 25 uniquely designed buildings of varying sizes, recreating the streets and shops of the Northern Song Dynasty, and holds high ornamental and recreational value. To the south of Water Margin City is Three Kingdoms City, and to the west lies Taihu Lake. It covers an area of 580 mu, with 1,500 mu of water surface available for filming. The main attractions of Water Margin City can be divided into three major sections: the Prefecture and County Area, the Capital City Area, and the Liangshan Area.

Prefecture and County Area, Zishi Street — The Prefecture and County Area includes story settings reflecting the lives of the middle and lower classes in the Northern Song Dynasty as depicted in "Water Margin," such as government offices, prisons, execution grounds, neighborhoods, shops, and estates. The most distinctive attraction is Zishi Street. The street features well-known establishments such as Wu Dalang’s Pancake Shop, Madam Wang’s Teahouse, and Zheng the Butcher’s Meat Shop. These buildings have a strong classical charm, and the meticulously crafted aging techniques create a specific historical atmosphere of the Northern Song Dynasty. Many scenes from "Water Margin" were filmed in the Prefecture and County Area, such as "Zhang Dujian’s Blood Splatters on the Mandarin Duck Tower," "Madam Wang Schemes for Profit," and "Wu Song Fights and Kills Ximen Qing." Traces of the "Water Margin" filming can be seen everywhere on Zishi Street.

Capital City Area · Qingming Riverside Street — The buildings in the Capital City Area are majestic and splendid, featuring structures such as the Imperial Palace, the Great Xiangguo Temple, Fanlou, and Gao Qiu’s Mansion. Scenes from "Water Margin" such as "Emperor Huizong Holds Court" and "Lin Chong Sneaks into the White Tiger Hall" were filmed here. An important structure in the Capital City Area, Qingming Riverside Street, was designed and built based on the layout from the famous Song Dynasty painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" by Zhang Zeduan, depicting the area from the Rainbow Bridge to the streets inside and outside the city gate. The daily life and folk culture of the Song Dynasty residents are vividly presented here. Currently, Water Margin City operates various traditional Chinese cultural handicraft workshops and shops along this street, along with various folk performances such as acrobatics, puppet shows, magic, and animal training. Liangshan Area · Loyalty Hall — The Liangshan Area is built against the mountain and by the lake, with attractions such as the Liangshan Dock, Fortress Gate, Drill Ground, Twist Gate, Broken Gold Pavilion, and Loyalty Hall constructed along the mountain slope. The CCTV crew of "Water Margin" filmed scenes here such as "Lu Junyi Joins Liangshan," "The Ranking of Liangshan Heroes," and "The Sorrowful Wind of Water Margin." More than ten replica ancient Song Dynasty boats used in the filming of "Water Margin," including Gao Qiu’s official boat, oar boats, wheel boats, and warships, are now available for tourists to cruise on Taihu Lake.

In addition, there are some scattered attractions built along the lake, creating unique scenery amidst the landscape, such as Xunyang Tower where Song Jiang inscribed his rebellious poem, and Shijie Village, the residence of the three Ruan brothers.

Water Margin City Performances — Like Tang City and Three Kingdoms City, Water Margin City is both a film and television production base and a tourist destination. In addition to observing the filmmaking process, visitors can also enjoy a variety of vibrant performances within the city.

Currently, Water Margin City offers twelve performances daily. These carefully choreographed shows based on scenes from "Water Margin" are both thrilling and moving. Highlights include the large-scale siege performance "Righteous Capture of Gaotang Prefecture," lively street performances "Brothers Reunited" and "Yang Zhi Selling His Sword," and displays of Chinese martial arts culture such as "Yan Qing’s Wrestling Match," "Wu Song Drunkenly Beats Jiang Men Shen," and "Heroes of Liangshan." Water Margin stories can be experienced at any time, making the visit truly unforgettable for tourists.
