Guanyin Lake Tea and Fruit Base

The Guanyin Lake Tea and Fruit Base in Xiaochang County is situated at the southern foot of the Dabie Mountains and the northern part of the Jianghan Plain, 85 kilometers from Wuhan City. It is located within Xiaowu Township, a celebrated tourism township in Hubei Province, and is adjacent to the Xiaohe Interchange of the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway. Covering an area 10 kilometers wide from east to west and 6 kilometers long from north to south, the base encompasses a lush green space of 30 square kilometers. The site includes 30,000 mu of fruit tree plantations such as peach, plum, apricot, persimmon, jujube, and chestnut, 5,000 mu of medicinal and tea plantations, and 20,000 mu of water bodies. It receives 250,000 visitors annually, generating over 40 million yuan in tourism revenue. In January 2001 and October 2003, Xiaochang County commissioned Huazhong University of Science and Technology to develop the “Xiaochang County Guanyin Lake Ecotourism Area Construction Plan” and the “Xiaochang County Guanyin Lake Ecotourism Area Detailed Construction Plan,” respectively. Based on these plans, agricultural demonstration sites and leisure farms were established, including attractions and sightseeing corridors such as the Ten-Li Lotus Pond, Ten-Li Fruit Fragrance, Hundred-Vegetable Garden, Ten-Thousand-Flower Garden, and Lixiang Garden.
