Enshi Wind and Rain Bridge

The Wind and Rain Bridge, situated over the Qingjiang River in the Enshi Prefecture capital, has now become a beautiful local landmark.

The Enshi Wind and Rain Bridge was completed in March 2004, located on the Qingjiang River within Enshi, connecting the east and west banks of the river. It lies to the east of Shizhou Avenue and to the west of Phoenix Mountain Forest Park, and serves as a pedestrian bridge. The main bridge is divided into upper and lower levels: the first level is a pedestrian walkway, 18 meters wide and 96 meters long; the second level houses the “Qinghe Garden” teahouse. The entire bridge combines an ancient charm and ethnic characteristics with a modern vibe and scenic pedestrian design.

The Enshi Wind and Rain Bridge is the only bridge in the Enshi area that spans the Qingjiang River as a pedestrian bridge, with a construction cost of 17 million yuan. The “Wind and Rain Bridge” is a unique type of transportation structure among ethnic minority groups. The bridge features corridors, pavilions, small shops, benches, and more. It serves not only as a passage for pedestrians but also provides shelter from rain, shade, and a place to rest, hence the name “Wind and Rain Bridge.” The pavilions on the bridge rise prominently, with upturned eaves and flying rafters, making for a striking sight.
