Xi Lihe Site

The Xi Lihe Site is a cultural heritage site protected by the Zhengzhou Municipal Government.

The Xi Lihe Site is situated in the low mountainous and hilly area of the southwestern suburbs of Zhengzhou, in the northeastern extension of the Songshan Mountain range. The terrain is higher in the east and lower in the west, with an upper layer consisting of more than 12 meters of Malan loess deposits and a lower section exposing nearly 3 meters of fluvial-lacustrine sedimentary strata. Stone artifacts and animal fossils have been discovered within the fluvial-lacustrine sedimentary layers. The cultural layer is about 3 meters thick, and animal bone fossils as well as stone artifacts have also been found in the soil debris of the fluvial-lacustrine sedimentary layers unearthed from the ground surface.
