The Yandianzhuang Site

The Yandianzhuang Site is a cultural heritage site protected by the Zhengzhou Municipal Government.

The Yandianzhuang Site is situated in the low mountainous and hilly region of southwestern Zhengzhou, within the extended foothills of the northern part of Songshan Mountain. The terrain gently slopes from west to east. Surface finds include pottery fragments adorned with rope patterns and appliqué ridges. Two ash pits have been found in the central area of the site, one being a bag-shaped pit with a flat base, filled with blackish-gray soil mixed with abundant plant ash and characterized by a loose texture, containing a small number of pottery shards among other materials. The pottery includes both clay pottery and sandy clay pottery; colors range from gray to reddish-brown; decorative patterns feature rope impressions, appliqué ridges, and plain surfaces; identifiable vessel shapes include pottery jars, wide-mouthed zun vessels, and other artifacts.
