The Zhengzhou Natural Museum (Zhengzhou Normal University Natural Museum) is a museum with distinctive local characteristics, supported by special funds from the Zhengzhou Municipal Government, constructed by Zhengzhou Normal University. The museum focuses on the collection and exhibition of specimens in the fields of zoology, botany, paleontology, minerals, soil, and water resources, integrating functions such as teaching, research, and science education. Its exhibitions primarily feature classifications of organisms and minerals, aiming to educate the public about natural science, ecological conservation, and the holistic view of harmony between humans and nature.

The museum covers an area of 3,000 square meters and includes nine exhibition zones: Spring on Song Mountain, Summer Breeze from the South, Golden Autumn of the Great River, Ice and Snow Scenery, Aquatic World, and others. It also offers science lectures and interactive experimental spaces for exploring the mysteries of nature. Each year, several temporary thematic exhibitions are launched. The museum houses and displays over 13,000 specimens, including more than 200 types of precious national first- and second-class animal specimens such as the South China Tiger, Leopard, Chinese Alligator, Monitor Lizard, Red-crowned Crane, and Crested Ibis. Most of the rare specimens are created through the repurposing of deceased rare animal resources, designed and produced by professional museum staff. The majority of the specimens, along with accompanying texts and images, showcase the latest findings from the museum professionals’ provincial and municipal-level scientific research projects.

It has been successively named as a “National Science Education Base,” “Henan Province Science Education Base,” “Henan Province Environmental Education Base,” “Henan Province Wildlife Conservation Base,” “Zhengzhou City Advanced Collective for Science Education,” and “Zhengzhou City Key Laboratory for Research and Conservation of Biological Germplasm Resources.” It co-founded the “Henan Province Wild Bird Observation Society.” The museum receives approximately 100,000 visitors annually.
