Established in 2006, the Beijing Century World Old Telephones Museum is China’s only professional museum dedicated to telephones. The museum houses a collection of over 2,000 telephone models from dozens of countries around the world spanning more than 100 years since the invention of the telephone, as well as over 2,000 precious historical photos, documents, and related items. The collection comprehensively and systematically reflects the century-long development of telephones worldwide since their invention in the 1870s.

Located on the 4th floor of Taifu Building, No. Y10 Dewai Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, the Beijing Century World Old Telephones Museum is China’s only professional museum focused on the development of telephones worldwide. Its collection spans over 100 countries and regions across six continents, including phones from nearly 50 countries that have made outstanding contributions to the development of the telephone, representing hundreds of brands.

In addition to telephones, the museum also holds stamps from nearly 100 countries featuring telephone themes, phone cards from dozens of countries with telephone-related designs, several hundred telephone directories from different periods, regions, and domestic provinces, cities, and organizations that document the evolution of telephony, as well as thousands of other related items and valuable historical materials that bear witness to the development of telecommunications. Moreover, the Beijing Century World Old Telephones Museum has developed a series of cultural and creative products centered around telephones (and communication devices) to serve the public.

The telephone is a great invention that has benefited all of humanity. As we today enjoy the convenience of communicating beyond time and space, we should not only marvel at the wisdom of our predecessors but also remember the hard work and dedication they invested in researching and developing telephone communication technology. Understanding the history of the telephone is our best way to honor and respect those who came before us.
