Beijing Liyuan Theatre

Beijing Liyuan Theatre is located within the Qianmen Hotel on Hufangqiao in Xicheng District. It was jointly established by the Beijing Opera Theatre and Qianmen Hotel, and opened in October 1990, specializing in traditional Chinese opera performances.

The theatre is divided into three parts: the performance hall, the exhibition hall, and the souvenir shop. The performance hall comprises the stage and the audience seating area. The stage is 8 meters high, 12 meters wide, and 7 meters deep, with couplets written by playwright Weng Ouhong and calligraphed by Liu Bingsen displayed on both sides. Surrounding the audience area are eight large Peking opera mask murals and fourteen painted screens featuring characters from famous operas. There are three ticket zones with a total of 800 seats, maintaining traditions similar to those of old-style opera houses. While enjoying the performances, audiences can also sample a variety of Beijing snacks and premium teas. The exhibition hall displays exhibits showcasing over 200 years of the development of Peking opera art. In the souvenir shop, visitors can purchase opera-themed crafts and souvenirs, try on opera costumes, have their faces painted with opera makeup, and take commemorative photos.
