Beijing Rose Garden
In the spring of 1987, under the leadership of the Xicheng District Government, various illegal structures were demolished and cleared, and green spaces were restored. At that time, forces from all sectors of the district were mobilized, and in a very short period, a neighborhood park themed “Brotherly Trees of Chinese Scholar Tree and Arborvitae, Sisterly Flowers of Rose and Chrysanthemum” was built. A large number of city-designated trees such as the Chinese Scholar Tree and Arborvitae, as well as city flowers like roses and chrysanthemums, were planted. It is commonly known as the “Madian Woodland.” In 1997, the construction of an overpass for the Badaling Expressway occupied part of the green space, reducing the park's afforested area from the original 5.1 hectares to 4.47 hectares.
