The Tomb of Lü Buwei is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Tomb of Lü Buwei is located to the east of Dazhongtou Village in Xishouyangshan Town, Yanshi, within the campus of Yanshi No.1 High School.

Lü Buwei was born in Puyang (present-day Puyang, Henan), with ancestral roots in Yangdi (present-day Yuzhou, Henan). In his youth, he engaged in commerce and amassed a fortune. Later, he ventured into politics, placing his political bets on a concubine’s son of Prince Anguojun of Qin, thereby contributing to the imperial achievements of King Zhuangxiang of Qin. In the first year of King Zhuangxiang’s reign (249 BC), Lü Buwei was appointed as Chancellor. After the Qin established the Sanchuan Commandery in Luoyang, Lü Buwei was further granted the title of Marquis Wenxin and given the revenue from 100,000 households in Henan and Luoyang as his fief.

In May of the third year of King Zhuangxiang’s reign (247 BC), Ying Zheng, who had already taken power, executed Lao Ai. Lü Buwei was implicated and demoted back to Luoyang. Although he had fallen from power, envoys and guests from various states still came in an endless stream to pay their respects in Luoyang. Fearing that Lü Buwei might cause trouble, the Qin king Ying Zheng decided to exile him to Shu. Under pressure from the Qin king, Lü Buwei committed suicide by drinking poison and was buried on Mount Mang in Luoyang.

The tomb mound of Lü Buwei is quite large. It was designated as a county-level key cultural relics protection unit in 1981.

Lü Buwei (292 BC – 235 BC), of the Jiang clan, surname Lü, given name Buwei, was a renowned merchant, politician, and thinker in the late Warring States period. He later became the Chancellor of Qin and was a native of Puyang in the State of Wei (present-day Huaxian County, Puyang, Henan).

Originally a major merchant from the State of Han, Lü Buwei “amassed a fortune by buying cheap and selling dear.” One day, while trading goods in Handan of the State of Zhao, he encountered the Qin hostage Yiren (later renamed Zichu), whom he considered a “rare commodity worth investing in.” He then persuaded Yiren to befriend Lady Huayang—Lady Huayang had no children, and by leveraging her influence, Yiren could become the successor of Prince Anguojun (the crown prince of King Zhaoxiang of Qin)... Shouyangshan Subdistrict: Shouyangshan Subdistrict is located in the northwest of Yanshi City, bordering Chengguan Town to the east, connecting to Baimasi Town of Luolong District and Pingle Town of Mengjin County to the west, backed by Mangshan Mountain to the north, and facing the Luo River to the south.
