Construction began in March 2002 and was completed in July 2003, when it officially opened to the public free of charge.

The Langfang Cultural and Art Center mainly consists of five scenic areas: the Nature Cycle Park, Dream Lake Park, Art Park, Educational Water Park, and the Avenue of Wisdom Quotes and Calligraphy. The overall master plan was designed by the world-renowned German firm GMP, while the landscaping was jointly created by Australia’s S·I Design and Hong Kong’s Ho Hung Yip Architects, reflecting the essence of contemporary plaza art and a profound cultural heritage.

The theme of the landscape design is “Enlightenment.” It encompasses cognition, civilization, understanding, education, knowledge, learning, culture, open-mindedness, teaching, and wisdom. Visitors can gain inspiration in nature, art, drama, literature, and more through multi-dimensional, multi-perspective, and multi-disciplinary observation and reflection.
