The Yanling National Flower and Wood Expo Garden is divided into 13 major functional zones, including: the Exhibition Zone, Bamboo Plant Zone, Wintersweet Culture Zone, Leisure and Vacation Zone, Tropical Plant Zone, Ecological Science Popularization Zone, Famous and High-quality Flower and Wood Demonstration Zone, Bonsai Culture Zone, Tourism Reception Zone, Flower Viewing Zone, Children’s Play Zone, Coniferous Plant Zone, and Series Landscape Zone. The garden offers comprehensive functions such as flower and wood display, market trading, eco-tourism, and scientific research and development.

Covering an area of 1,500 mu, stretching 600 meters from north to south and 1,600 meters from east to west, the garden was initiated in March 2002 and completed in September 2002. Designed under the overall direction of Professor Liang Yongji from Beijing University of Landscape Architecture, it follows the principles of “people-oriented, ecology-first, species diversity, and sustainable development.” The entire park is divided into 13 major functional zones: the Exhibition Zone, Wintersweet Culture Display Zone, Famous and High-quality Flower and Wood Display Zone, Tropical Plant Display Zone, Bamboo Plant Display Zone, Leisure and Vacation Zone, Children’s Play Zone, Ecological Science Popularization Display Zone, Coniferous Plant Display Zone, and Series Landscape Zone. A total of 219 scenic spots have been developed, with over 2,000 varieties of green plants. It has been successively named as the “National Plain Forest Park,” “National Eco-Tourism Demonstration Park,” and “Key Tourist Attraction of Henan Province.” The current garden offers comprehensive functions such as flower and wood display, market trading, eco-tourism, and science popularization development. In 2002 and 2003, the 2nd and 3rd Central Plains Flower and Wood Expos were successfully held here, attracting over 800,000 domestic and international visitors, nearly 400 flower enterprises and institutions for visits, inspections, and business negotiations, with a total contracted amount of 1.13 billion yuan. The event achieved excellent economic and social benefits and received high praise from all sectors of society.

Introduction to Yanling

Yanling is located in the central part of Henan Province, east of Xuchang City, on the southern bank of the Yellow River. It belongs to Xuchang City and governs 7 townships and 5 towns, covering a total area of 871.6 square kilometers, with 920,000 mu of arable land and a population of 620,000. Yanling has a long history and splendid culture. About 8,000 years ago, ancestors thrived here. In the early Zhou Dynasty, it was enfeoffed as the State of Yan, renamed Yanling in the early Eastern Zhou Pingwang period, established as a county in the early Han Dynasty, and has a history of more than 2,000 years. Notable historical events such as Duke Zheng defeating Duan in Yan, the Battle of Yanling between Jin and Chu, Tang Ju fulfilling his mission, and Li Bai visiting Anling (ancient Yanling) for Taoism all took place here.
