The An Family Residence

The An Family Residence is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

The An Family Residence is located in Anjia Village, Pengdian Township, 9 kilometers north of Yanling County, Xuchang City. It was built in the eighth year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1828). Originally quite large in scale with multiple courtyards, the residence now consists of the north courtyard’s hallway, main building, south courtyard’s hallway, and the auxiliary building on the north side. The residence faces east and is built along a west-east axis. All structures feature a single-eave flush-gable roof covered with small gray tiles, with a width of three bays and a depth of one bay. The buildings boast exquisite brick and wood carvings, and hold significant historical and artistic value. In 2008, it was designated and announced as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit by the provincial government.

Pengdian Town: A township under the jurisdiction of Yanling County. Established as Pengdian Commune in 1958, it was reorganized as a township in 1984. Located in the northern part of the county, it is 9 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 96 square kilometers with a population of 53,000, Provincial Highway 1626 runs through the town. To the south flows the Shuangji River, and to the north is the Kanggou River, both traversing the area, which also boasts abundant underground water resources.
