The former site of Xinglongzhuang Railway Station Building is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The former site of Xinglongzhuang Railway Station is located 5 meters north of the Longhai Railway in the northern part of Xinglong Township, Kaifeng County. It consists of three parts: the railway station building, the stationmaster’s residence, and an air-raid shelter. It was identified as an immovable cultural relic during the third national cultural relics survey and was announced as part of the fifth batch of Henan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units in 2008.

The Xinglongzhuang Railway Station building was originally constructed in 1913, began provisional operations in 1915, and was officially put into use in January 1916. The building was constructed by Belgians and originally served as a ticket office and waiting room. It is a palace-temple style building in the Belgian architectural style, commonly referred to as the palace-temple style station building, with an area of approximately 171 square meters. The stationmaster’s residence is located about 50 meters west of the station building. It was built in the mid-1930s when Japan invaded China and entered the Central Plains, serving as the office for the Japanese stationmaster. It is of Japanese architectural style and currently consists of three main rooms, two auxiliary rooms on each side, and a small courtyard, covering a total area of 150 square meters. The air-raid shelter is located 100 meters west of the stationmaster’s residence. It was built in the mid-1930s by the Japanese during their invasion of China, with an area of about 100 square meters. The main structures of the former site of Xinglongzhuang Railway Station feature distinctive architectural styles, a rational layout, and a pleasing aesthetic. The roof is adorned with red tiles and blue bricks, while the walls combine red and blue bricks, with red bricks used decoratively around the walls and windows, giving the buildings an elegant and refined appearance.

The former site of Xinglongzhuang Railway Station is exquisitely and rationally designed, aesthetically pleasing, and highly practical. It is the only fully preserved railway station along the Longhai Railway line. This historical site bears witness to the history of railway station architecture in China and serves as a complete physical archive, possessing significant historical, research, and cultural heritage value.

On October 7, 2019, the former site of Xinglongzhuang Railway Station Building was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Xinglong Township: Located in the eastern part of Kaifeng County, Xinglong Township borders the urban and county outskirts, covering a total area of 58.7 square kilometers. The Longhai Railway, National Highway 310, and the A’shen Expressway run through the township, providing very convenient transportation. The township government is located in Xinglong Village, 8 kilometers from the county seat. The township administers 17 administrative villages and 53 natural villages, with a total population of 39,812, including 37,819 agricultural residents, and has 52,532 mu of arable land.
