Anjiagou Ecotourism Area

Anjiagou Ecotourism Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Anjiagou is located 2.6 kilometers northwest of Da Jingmenwai in Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, covering a drainage area of approximately 4.25 square kilometers. The gully stretches 4,625 meters from west to northeast, branching into 12 tributaries. It is known as the "Little Guilin." Gao Jinhuo, former Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Zhangjiakou Municipal Committee and Party Group Secretary of the municipal government, once inscribed a dedication for the Anjiagou scenic area.

Anjiagou Ecotourism Area (a national AAA-level scenic spot) is situated in Shijiangyao Village, Dongyaozi Town, Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, and is connected to the Northern Silk Road — the Zhangjiakou-Kuqa Ancient Trail. The scenic area is just 20 kilometers from the Beijing-Zhengzhou Expressway, 5 kilometers from National Highway 207, and 3 kilometers from downtown, offering very convenient transportation. The entrance fee is set at 10 yuan. The entire gully extends from west to east, spanning 4,625 meters in length with a total area of 4.25 square kilometers. It features 12 large and small tributaries, with deep gullies, rugged cliffs, and abundant natural resources along with a solid ecological foundation.

Anjiagou Scenic Area is a comprehensive tourist destination integrating leisure, vacation, dining, and entertainment. Dominated by natural ecology, the area boasts towering peaks, uniquely shaped rocks, picturesque landscapes, and a pleasant climate. Lush forests echo with birdsong, tranquil bays host playful fish and ducks, cascading waterfalls rush down, and wildflowers compete in beauty. The area offers recreational activities such as fishing, archery, paintball, kayaking, bamboo rafting, and grassland bubble soccer. Located in the mountainous city of Zhangjiakou beyond the Great Wall, Anjiagou is closely linked to the historic Zhangjiakou-Kuqa Ancient Trade Route, known as the “Northern Silk Road,” and the majestic Dajingmen Pass. This beautiful ecotourism destination provides a pleasant climate and stunning scenery, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in rich mountain wilderness charm and strong local cultural flavors. Here, you’ll also find a diverse coexistence of plants and animals, creating a seamless blend of nature and human culture. Dozens of uniquely shaped peaks create a marvelous scene. The average annual temperature in the gully ranges between 5–6°C, with the lowest at -18°C and the highest at 26.6°C. Annual rainfall is between 330–550 mm, the frost-free period lasts 117 days, and accumulated temperature reaches 2,488°C. The area enjoys high vegetation coverage, with the entire gully nestled among mountains, away from urban noise and pollution — making it an ideal location for eco-tourism development. After preliminary improvements, the gully now has complete infrastructure for water, electricity, and roads. Leveraging its natural ecological advantages, Anjiagou boasts profound historical significance and rich cultural heritage, and has been developed into a rural-style tourism area that combines leisure, vacation, dining, accommodation, and entertainment. The scenic area features overlapping peaks, lush forests, clear waters, and beautiful mountains. Two small reservoirs are located within the gully, along with attractions such as Mandarin Duck Cave, Qingfeng Pavilion, Hometown Garden, National Defense Cave, Fengling Waterfall, Fun Park, Panlong Path, and Jiulong Terrace. Visitors can experience the unique charm of this “Little Guilin beyond the Great Wall” at every turn.
