Jiaozuo Sports Center
Jiaozuo Sports Center is one of the key sports infrastructure projects in Jiaozuo. The center covers an area of 11.73 hectares (176 mu) with a total construction area of over 40,000 square meters. Facilities include a gymnasium (5,400 seats, construction area 10,117 square meters), a stadium (20,000 spectators, construction area 13,305 square meters), a basketball training hall (construction area 730 square meters), a martial arts training hall (construction area 844 square meters), a swimming training hall (construction area 625 square meters, with a 25-meter standard short-course pool), a wrestling training hall (construction area 369 square meters), a judo training hall, a table tennis training hall, a shooting range (construction area 2,540 square meters), a standard swimming pool with stands (construction area 1,050 square meters, 8 lanes), a comprehensive equipment training hall (construction area 750 square meters), one archery range, four outdoor basketball training courts, a gateball court, and other sports facilities, as well as the comprehensive building of the Sports Bureau (construction area 3,130 square meters). Currently, the center offers training programs in 15 sports: basketball, football (soccer), table tennis, athletics, swimming, rowing, canoeing, shooting, martial arts, boxing, taekwondo, wrestling, judo, weightlifting, and archery. Among these, basketball, martial arts, and rowing are Jiaozuo’s strong sports.
In recent years, several international and national competitions hosted in Jiaozuo, such as the International Men’s Volleyball Top Four Invitational Tournament, the International Women’s Volleyball Top Four Invitational Tournament, the Four-Nation Women’s Basketball Challenge, and the U-17 International Table Tennis Competition, were all held at the Jiaozuo Sports Center. These events have not only promoted the development of sports in Jiaozuo but also boosted the city’s openness to the outside world and raised its profile.
