En Village Jade Emperor Temple

The En Village Jade Emperor Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

The En Village Jade Emperor Temple is located in the northernmost part of the old village on Yijie Street in En Village, facing south with its back to the north. It originally had Ming Dynasty structures such as a mountain gate, bell and drum towers, a theater stage, the Horse King Hall, and east and west wing rooms. Today, only the Jade Emperor Hall and the Worship Hall remain. Locals commonly refer to the Jade Emperor Temple as the "Heavenly King Temple" and call the Jade Emperor Hall the "Main Hall." The Worship Hall is three bays wide and one bay deep, with a rolled shed-style roof covered in gray tubular tiles, and features a rectangular terrace in front. The Main Hall is five bays wide and three bays deep, with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof covered in yellow glazed tiles. The beams and eaves are adorned with exquisite colored paintings. The Main Hall of the Jade Emperor Temple is the largest and best-preserved Ming Dynasty structure in Jiaozuo City, holding significant academic value for the study of architecture, art, and religion from the Ming and Qing dynasties. In 1982, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the Jiaozuo Municipal People's Government, and in 2006, it was listed as a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit by the Henan Provincial People's Government.

It is located in the southeastern part of Jiaozuo’s urban center, in the core area of the city’s southern expansion and eastern development. Covering a total area of 25 square kilometers, it administers 3 communities and 9 administrative villages. The Shanyang Han City Ruins, known for their historical significance in Jiaozuo, are situated in the eastern part of the subdistrict, while the province’s largest artificial lake — Longyuan Lake — is located in the western part.
