The Dageta Stone Pillar Cluster is a cultural tourism attraction.

In the southwestern part of the damhead, there is another natural wonder—the Dageta Stone Pillar Cluster. Dageta is a small village located along the southern edge of the damhead in Zhangbei County, less than 10 kilometers from National Highway 207. The village is rectangular in shape, backed by a long ridge to the west and facing the Dayingtan Reservoir to the east. It enjoys dense shade, clear mountains, and beautiful waters. One of the rarest natural wonders in the world, the stone pillar cluster, stands densely here.

Judging from the exposed cross-section, the stone pillar cluster covers an area of about fifty to sixty square meters and consists of several hundred pillars. This is just one section that was accidentally exposed when local farmers were quarrying. All the pillars are hexagonal, with each side approximately 20 centimeters long, standing upright and closely arranged.

In 1994, China Central Television aired footage of the stone pillar cluster. According to the narration, “The pillars were formed after a volcanic eruption, when lava cooled uniformly and contracted slowly. They are estimated to be over 25 million years old.”

Research shows that similar natural stone pillar wonders exist only in one other place—Northern Ireland in the UK, known as the Giant’s Causeway. However, the Zhangbei Dageta Stone Pillar Cluster stands out with its regular formations and vertically aligned pillars, making it a unique and unparalleled spectacle.
