Monument to the Martyrs of the Soviet-Mongolian Allied Forces

The Monument to the Martyrs of the Soviet-Mongolian Allied Forces is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Located on the peak of Yehuling Mountain, west of Heifengkou, 15 kilometers south of Zhangbei County, at an altitude of 1,561 meters, the cemetery consists of a memorial tower, a memorial stele, and martyr tombs. It was built to commemorate the 60 Soviet-Mongolian soldiers who sacrificed their lives here during the War of Resistance against Japan. The cemetery covers an area of 226 acres, shaded by lush pines and cypresses, and provides a fitting resting place for revolutionary martyrs. The memorial tower bears inscriptions by national leaders Nie Rongzhen, -, Xie Juezai, and Zhang Su. The exhibition hall also displays calligraphy from Guo Moruo, Ye Shengtao, and Xiao San. After its completion, Chinese party and government leaders such as Marshal He Long, Marshal Nie Rongzhen, and General Luo Ruiqing paid their respects at the tower. In recent years, party and government leaders including Hu Yaobang, -, -, and Chen Junsheng have also visited. Though history has passed, the noble internationalist spirit of the Soviet-Mongolian martyrs continues to inspire us to cherish peace, oppose war, and value the precious happiness of life today.
