Dushan Scenic Area is situated in the northeast corner of Nanyang City, adjacent to the Baihe River to the east, the Lingnan Expressway to the north, and Provincial Highway 231 to the west. It stands at an elevation of 367.8 meters, covering a controlled area of 15,400 mu and a mountainous area of 5,000 mu. With 98% forest coverage and a canopy density of 0.9, it is hailed as the “green emerald” and “natural oxygen bar.” Here, green mountains embrace the city, and the Baihe River winds around. Dushan boasts abundant local produce: Dushan jade, one of China’s four famous jades; Dushan Mao Feng tea, known for its rich aroma and exquisite taste; and Dushan mineral water, rich in trace elements such as metasilicic acid, zinc, and strontium, offering notable health benefits. Leveraging its lush scenery, sweet spring water, and fragrant tea, Dushan attracts over 700,000 visitors annually, making it an ideal destination for leisure, sightseeing, vacationing, and recuperation.

Located on the mountainside at the southern foot of Dushan Scenic Area, the Dushan Jade Culture Square consists of a theme monument, cultural wall, and exhibition halls. To the north of the square stands the Jade Museum, designed in the architectural style of the Han Dynasty, along with 18 life-sized sculptures depicting the entire jade carving process—from prospecting and mining to cutting and polishing. These vividly recreate the ancient practices of jade exploration, extraction, splitting, slicing, and carving, serving as the main highlight of the Jade Culture Square.

Today’s Dushan Forest Park focuses on creating a leisure-friendly environment. By combining trees and shrubs to form diverse plant communities and integrating traditional Nanyang ethnic culture into the mountain landscape, it showcases scenes of “lush tea gardens in spring, verdant sways in summer, bountiful fruit in autumn, and proud pines braving the snow in winter.”

Major attractions within Dushan Scenic Area include Dushan Forest Park, Zushi Palace, Xuanyaoguan Temple, Yushan Chan Temple, as well as nearby sites such as Dashizhi Vegetable Planting Garden, the Big Well in Baita Village, ancient cypresses, and ancient ginkgo trees. Supporting these is the Duxiu Mountain Villa service center, which provides convenient dining and resting facilities for visitors, adding another highlight to the scenic area.
